REMORA 2000 SUBMARINE

The latest in the range of COMEX's innovative submarines,REMORA 2000 combines the functions and instrumentation of an oceanographic subsea vessel with the built-in amenities and eye-catching design of a recreational submarine. Its aesthetic appearance makes it perfectly suitable for mass media events (TV, films, documentaries etc) and the research and salvage of shipwrecks ( underwater exploration, deep water archaeology, photogrammetry).

Its primary mission is to carry two person down as far as 610 meters for up to 10 hours of underwater exploration in the comfort and safetyof an air-conditionned cabin at atmospheric pressure.

Its objective is to blend the mystery and fascination of submarine diving with the same easy manoeuvrability and good visibility experienced by scuba divers.

The hull consists of a large, fully transparent, bubble-shaped acrylic sphere housing the pilot and the observer. Over and above the impression of total immersion, this spectacular 360° view is a guarantee of safety and efficiency.

REMORA 2000 submarine owes its helicopter like manoeuvrability and pilotability (and hence its name of "subsea helicopter") to its five thrusters in 450 mm diameter nozzles and to its computer-controlled hydraulic propulsion system. Not only does this computer perform automatic piloting of the submarine but other functions such as autoheading, autodepth, autoaltitude, energy management, navigation parameter display, automonitoring, alarm management, etc.

The submarine is electro driven from a pilot's "consolette" handset, operable by either of the two crew members and providing the pilot with one-handed control of all the functions needed for diving, including communications to the surface.
